Cost of Dentures
Cost of Getting Dentures :
The cost of dentures and the factors that influence the price of dentures may include the area in which you live, your dentist, the type of dentures you require, and the quality of dentures you select. Full dentures are designed to replace an entire set of teeth, either the upper jaw, the lower jaw, or the entire mouth. Partial dentures, on the other hand, are for those who have lost only a few teeth and are often an affordable alternative to dental bridges.
The quality of the dentures can determine their price to a great degree. Quality can affect the comfort and appearance as well as the cost. The old adage “You get what you pay for” often aptly applies.
- High-end dentures usually involve a great measure of dental artistry and utilize materials which simulate the natural look and color of teeth and gums to the highest degree possible. The teeth, normally made from composite acrylic resins, are designed to last a long time and often include a warranty against wear and tear, such as chipping and cracking. These life-like dentures can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000 for a full set (upper and lower jaw).
- Mid-range dentures employ many of the same features as their high-end counterparts, with perhaps a lower degree of artistry and a more limited warranty. Patients should expect to pay approximately $1,000 for a full set (upper and lower jaw) of mid-range dentures.
- Low-end dentures may cost as little as $300, but the difference between low-end dentures and mid-range dentures may be great in terms of comfort, longevity, and appearance. For those seeking a temporary solution to missing teeth, however, low-end dentures may be a cost effective choice.
Denture Price Information
The cost of dentures can vary considerably, depending on the type of dentures chosen, the prosthodontist involved, and the area of the country in which the procedure is performed. Many patients feel that dentures are worth their cost because they help to eliminate the discomfort, inconvenience, and embarrassment caused by missing teeth.
Denture Alternatives
For those who want more stable and comfortable denture alternatives, dental implants and dental bridges may be an option. Implants are similar to dentures, in that they are prosthetic teeth used to replace natural teeth, but they are attached to the jaw by means of metal studs implanted permanently into the bone. Bridges are groups of just a few prosthetic teeth attached to adjacent natural teeth with metal and plastic connectors. Bridges help to preserve some of the mouth’s structural integrity by leaving as many natural teeth in place as possible. Your dentist can help you decide if either of these denture alternatives is better suited to your individual needs.

Hi, dental implant query?
Hi, I am in the process of a dental implant on one of my main front two upper teeth, i lost the tooth and root last July 1st after i was assaulted, i had a temporary denture for a short period then the screw was fitted in my gum, 6 months later (two weeks ago) i went back to the dentist where he fit a temporary crown for a few months (something to do with moulding my gum?) however tonight while i sat to eat my tea, i was chewing away unaware that somehow the damn crown had got loose and without realising i swallowed it! So now im left with a like peg in my mouth which is sharp and no crown.
Problem is, I live in Newcastle but my dentist is 2 and a half hours away plus its a saturday night.
What should i do, im setting home tomorrow morning and hopefully seeing dentist morning but i doubt he will be able to fit anything there and then will he?
Im sick of this damn thing! nearly a year and still not sorted plus its costing a damning fortune!
**** in response*****
Rang NHS direct, they told me to get the dentifix stuff that puts something to protect it and the rest of my mouth as its sharp, but i cant afford so im stuck!
Get into dentist on monday, but just hope he can give me crown there and then otherwise ill be missing alot of work with no pay and im already skint and in debt!
Embarrasing teeth probelm?
I am so scared of the dentist that even when I think about it, I get all sweaty and my heart starts beating rapidly. I know I need to go because my teeth have gotten so bad that I don’t think I have any bone left (bottom). Is there something that can be done so I can get a denture. I know that you can’t get a denture if there is no bone for them to adhere to, but surely there is something that can be done. And please tell me the least expensive thing. I do have dental insurance (BCBS) that pays 1/2 of all costs, but not up front, those come from my pocket. I need help, I cannot smile for fear that people will see my teeth, my self confidence has ..well, I have none. I don’t like to talk because I don’t want to show my teeth. This is an embarrasing situation and I know that I should have taken better care of them before, so please no ugly comments. Is there anyone of you that give me some good advise.
A Free/Sliding Scale Dentist near/around Atlanta, GA?
I am a female in my midtwenties. I am in serious need of dental care (I don’t know exactly what I need but atleast a couple extractions, cavity fillings, possibly crown/bridge/partial denture). I am in alot of pain daily, not to mention the lack of self-confidence I have due to my teeth issues.
The economic downturn cost my family and I alot (my husband and I were both laid off). We have no dental insurance. The last time we were able to get an estimate to fix my teeth they were talking tens of thousands of dollars. I desperately need a dentist that will SERIOUSLY work with me on charges/payment or someone who will do it for free/out of the kindness of their heart. I HAVE been to the emergency room when the pain is all-consuming and blinding. They gave me antibiotics, and told me to go to a dentist (Yes I explained to them the situation; they told me I was SOL).
The Ben Massell Clinic is not accepting new patients (even though I’ve been calling them for 6 months now and have never heard back, but c’est la vie). PLEASE if you know anyone who can help I would be greatly appreciative.
Should I get my Tooth Extracted or Root Canal?
The tooth involved is upper, at the back. Its the 2nd one from the back, so i guess its classed as a molar? Originally it had cracked, they at that time just filled it like a cavity. Skip a few years later, the nerve has got infected. I started antibotics 2 days ago, its 7 days antibotics. I have seen 2 dentists and both said I can either, get it pulled, leaving nothing, get it pulled and have a bridge, get it pulled and have a denture tooth But both said really would prefer to do a Root Canal and Crown. They said it would cost $2100. I dont have that type of money. What do you think? Pull it or Root Canal?
RITZ – your the only one that has recommended keeping it the other 3 have said get it pulled. Unless a person has $2000, there isnt much choice. I certainly am not going to go into debt for the sake of 1 tooth which later might need to be pulled anyway.. its right near the back anyway, I think its the 2nd molar
Carly – Its $800 for the canal but its all the rest that adds up, the Crown is like $700, then there is about $300 in lab fees and crap and then about $250 in stuff to fill it and stuff and then about another $100 for some pole that goes in there.. Personally im like screw that Ill have it removed and when i come into money have a fake one put in
What kind of dental support can I get?
I am on SSDI, get EBT food stamps, and get some other supports, such as Medicaid to supplement my military insurance (from my estranged husband). The military insurance, so far as I can tell, only covers routine dental work, and pays a percentage of other dental procedures. Last time I had dental work done, I had to have a full cleaning, which ended up costing me $300! There is no way I can afford anything like that again…
What options do I have between Medicaid and Tricare (and other options)? I have severe dental problems (I was diagnosed with peridontal disease last year, a direct result of growing up with a mother who never brought me to a dentist, so by the time I was old enough to do it myself, I already had severe gingivitis which quickly became peridontis, even with cleanings and treatments which I couldn’t really afford, but tried to get anyway.
Basically, I’m going to need a fully cleaning, periodontal assessment, going to have to have many teeth pulled, and get tooth implants, dentures, and/or bridgework.
From my own assessment, I have 4 severely decayed teeth, about 10 partially decayed teeth, and a few shwoing signs of leanig that way. My gums have receded a great deal over time, and they are sensitive and bleed when brushed and bleed severely when I floss. I do try to brush and floss every day, though I don’t see how it could possibly help now.
Please help me figure out a way to fix my mouth…I am, according to others, a very pretty girl, except for my teeth, which are so crooked and messed up…I should’ve had braces when I was a kid, too, they are so crooked, but my mother refused to believe that…she never cared.
Dentists can put fake enamel on teeth, right?
My husband is having serious issues with his teeth. We are in the process of having them all removed and adding dentures. With him having so many issues with his teeth, I don’t want to take any chances. I’ve always taken care of my teeth, but I want to know what else I can do to ensure I don’t end up losing my teeth. I’ve heard that dentists can put fake enamel on your teeth to prevent damage to them. I was wondering if anyone knows for certain and if so how much it costs. My teeth are in pretty good shape at the moment. I had two cavities when I was a teenager, but my filling are still there. Maybe it’s vain, but my biggest fear is losing my teeth. Please let me know it this procedure is possible or if you have any other suggestions for me. Thanks.
Estimate needed for dental work, California (apx. amount)?
I just had a lot of dental work done and am wondering if I paid too much. Was wondering what the work should have cost, then I will let you know what I paid. This is without dental insurance or a dental plan. First, an oral surgeon put me to sleep and pulled 7 teeth, all on the bottom, 2 wisdom teeth, 4 molars, 1 regular tooth, put bone graft in the socket holes. A general dentist did root canals on 3 upper teeth, none of which were molars, then put 11 crowns on all upper teeth. 6 of the crowns are Captek which is a high quality gold crown with porcelain on the outside, these 6 are on the front teeth. The other 5 crowns are regular metal crowns with porcelain on the outside, 3 which are molars, 2 regular teeth. I’m supposed to go back and have a partial denture made for the lower arch, for both the left and right side, but if I feel I am being overcharged, I may go somewhere else.
Adult tooth came in behind baby tooth for an adult how to fix?
When I was about 17 I started getting an adult tooth grow behind a baby tooth, at the time I didnt know my baby tooth never came in and I didnt have insurance so never took care of it. Now I am 28 and went to the Dentist to get this taken care of and I do have dental insurance and the baby tooth is 2 from the front so I just cant have it pulled out I would have a gap and it would show
so the dentist told me I have to get the baby tooth pulled and get braces on top and bottom to have the adult tooth push and turn to the front. Now this seems like too much to go through ..I mean Im too old for braces and they cost almost 5000.00 out of pocket. Is there another way around this? like cant I get my adult tooth & baby tooth pulled them get a replacement tooth glued in like a crown or denture …not sure what its called???
